Laurent Arets, CFA took over the Curaçao office at the end of 2020. Since its foundation in 2013, he has worked as asset manager/director for this office. Prior to that, he worked at several private banks in the Netherlands, Switzerland and Curaçao, as well as at one of the world’s largest pension funds. He has more than 20 years of wealth management experience for both private clients and institutions and is registered with the CFA Institute.

For reasons of continuity, maintaining a four-eyes principle where needed and performing certain (internal) controls, he is accompanied by a team of professionals with extensive trust and family office experience and a legal background. Besides, external advisors and expertise are engaged as necessary, which safeguards the focus on wealth management services.

The name AreMar is a combination of the first letters of Laurent’s surname, emphasizing the personal character of the services provided, and the Spanish word for sea. ‘Mar’ symbolizes the clear-blue waters surrounding Curaçao.  This same transparency is also one of our core values​. Moreover, the economy and financial markets, just like the sea, can be calm or turbulent. We aim to help our customers navigate these different waters as good as possible.

Our asset management offering tries to capture future opportunities in an entrepreneurial and well-thought-out manner, while managing the downside risks. We constantly strive for full transparency, both in terms of portfolio composition (asset management) / portfolio analysis (monitoring) as well as regarding fees.
